Halifax 13U AAA Pays It Forward

Fantastic story out of Halifax Minor Baseball!

Below is a photo of the Halifax Mets 13U AAA baseball team (ages 12 & 13) organizing the donation for Metro Turning Point Shelter! This is an emergency shelter for homeless men, including Veterans. It can accommodate 78 men each night. The team assembled 80 personal hygiene kits and 80 snack bags for the guests at the shelter. This event brought the team together and initiated a conversation about poverty, hopelessness, mental health and dignity. We encourage you to watch this 2 minute video. https://youtu.be/2gFaDPg5ngQ

Halifax 13U AAA would also like to acknowledge Prodigy Sports who donated 23 bags of new t-shirts that we organized in sizes for the shelter. In total, we delivered 11 boxes and 4 hampers of items to Metro Turning Point.

Halifax Minor Baseball Association and Baseball Nova Scotia would like to acknowledge the team and their Pay It Forward work and encourage other teams to participate in this important community work.

To cap it off, Halifax captured the Bronze medal while representing Nova Scotia in the 2018 13U National Atlantic Championships in Summerside!

The team would also like to dedicate their donation in memory of Mary Ritchie, an amazing individual whose tireless support for helping others is a true inspiration and in keeping with her legacy on how to build a community.
