Ada who is a 14 year old umpire entering her 4 season as an umpire was named Umpire of the Week by Baseball Canada on May 28. She is an incredibly girl who is an aspiring physicist and is actively involved in encourging others to deviate from the norm and do what they want to do regardless of gender. She is concerned about the lack of women in science, technology, engineering and math as well as sports as she has inspired her friend Kenzie to start umpiring. They became the first female umpiring duo ever to officiate a Baseball Nova Scotia game.

In April Ada received The Windsor Junction resident as one of  this year’s WomenActive Trendsetter award winner. She took home top prize in the youth category at an April 14 ceremony in Halifax honouring five Nova Scotia women currently challenging the status quo.
