BNSUD COVID-19 Update
On Wednesday, March 18th, the Baseball Nova Scotia Umpires Division (BNSUD) Executive convened via conference call to discuss next steps for the organization. As we have learned over the past week, the COVID-19 containment situation evolves by the hour. While we are committed to conducting our programming as soon as safely possible, BNSUD highly recommends all members respect the recommendations of the government and cancel all in person activities.
At this time, BNSUD is cancelling all in person clinics up to and including clinics to be held on May 3rd. This includes the below clinics.
April 18th - BRIDGEWATER
April 18th - TRURO
April 18th - Windsor
April 25th - WESTVILLE
April 26th - DARTMOUTH
May 1st - HALIFAX
May 1st to 3rd - HALIFAX
We will be suspending our online registration process and will be refunding any prepaid registrations. There will be an email sent to all those umpires who have pre-registered to ensure they are aware of the situation outlined in this memo. At this time, we are not definite about how we will proceed to be prepared for a potential season in 2020 but as we learn more, we will ensure that our members are made aware of how we will be proceeding.
There will be a BNSUD Board of Directors call on April 19th to discuss and decide further on what direction we will be taking. We are working in partnership with Baseball Nova Scotia (BNS) to determine our next steps. Depending on the recommendations of the government, Sport Nova Scotia, Baseball Nova Scotia and other key stakeholders, further measures may need to be taken at that time.
BNSUD believes the safety of our members is the number one priority. Please stay safe.
