Baseball Nova Scotia July 3rd Update
Given there were no further easing of restrictions this week, Baseball Nova Scotia has decided to cancel the 2020 Bluenose League and Provincial Championships. We are disappointed that we’ve had to make such a hard decision, but there is no feasible way to conduct a structured league or multi team events at this point .
Baseball Nova Scotia has been informed public health will be reviewing sport closer ‘in the coming days’. While this does not come with a timeline, we will continue to stay optimistic that competition will be possible in 2020. There are currently six other provinces that have returned to playing games, including our three Atlantic counterparts, and we believe we will get there too.
In the mean time, we will continue to collect team registration information. When we get approved for competition, teams will have access to contact information for other teams in their division for the purpose of organizing exhibition games. Hopefully this approach will allow for flexibility in teams arranging their own schedules for the purpose of competition.
We also want to thank all the volunteers working hard to make baseball happen this summer. The added stresses of this summer has been accompanied by much uncertainty. You’re efforts have not gone unnoticed, and your communities are lucky to have you.
