Published Thursday, August 9, 2018

From August 8-12 the 17U Boys Provincial team will be competing at the Baseball Canada Cup in Moncton-Dieppe, New Brunswick. The teams season has been going quite well and they have been very competitive in the BNS 21U league says their head coach Kevin Richardson. At the last Canada Cup Nova Scotia placed 7th but this year the team has high hopes and wants the chance to play for a medal. When asked about the competition of the tournament, Kevin replied "we believe we can play with any team in the tournament…. Alberta will be the biggest test during the round robin play."

With a little over a week until the tournament begins, the team’s strategy is to play their game, keeping the focus and intensity up at all times. With the strong season they have been having, the team will continue to use their strengths of defense, speed, teamwork, having all players working towards the same goal as they head into their games. A tournament such as this is an amazing opportunity for the players, when asked what you hope your players and coaching staff will takeaway from the tournament Kevin answered ‘Strong NS representation on and off the field… showcasing talent through competitive play in meaningful games. Our goals is to qualify for the Quarterfinals and to have a chance to play for medal.’

We wish the boys and their coaching staff the best of luck and hope that they reach their goal of playing for a medal. If you want to cheer on the boys from home and see live results, head over to baseball Canada website!
