BNSUD COVID-19 Update April 29
On Sunday, April 19th, the Baseball Nova Scotia Umpires Division (BNSUD) Board of Directors met via conference call to discuss next steps for the organization.
As we have learned over the past number of weeks, the COVID-19 situation evolves by the hour. At this time, BNSUD will extend its suspension of any further in-person activities up to June 1st. This corresponds with BNS extending its timeline for any in-person activities.
The BNSUD Board discussed several potential contingency plans for when/ if there were to be a season in 2020. At this time, our hope is to offer some sort of training opportunity for our umpires; when we have a clearer picture of the 2020 season, we’ll provide further updates. If in-person training takes place, we’ll be committed to offering a safe program that follows all applicable public health guidelines.
On a brighter note, normally BNSUD has its Semi-Annual meeting during our Super Clinic weekend. Due to the cancellation of the Super Clinic and the need to still hold our meeting, we have come up with a virtual solution which will give more of our membership a chance to participate. We are currently working on the details for the meeting, but it will be held on Sunday, May 31st at 7pm. We will be using ZOOM so our membership can take part. Once we get more information, we will be sending out an email to the membership on how they can take part. Please keep the date in mind!
BNSUD believes that the safety of our members is the number one priority. Please stay safe.
