BNSUD REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR 2021

UPDATE # 3

Our online registration process will begin on Thursday, April 1st!

We will be using the new BNSUD website to handle our registration process and there are changes to our registration process.  The new website is www.bnsud.ca.

Here are the steps and expectations for the registration process:

  • Click Register – it is on the top right hand side of the page.

  • You will be brought to the registration page that looks like the one below. You will be creating your own user profile with all the required registration information – name, address, etc…  For “Level”, this means the level you were previously registered at.  For new umpires, your level is 1.

Make sure you put in the correct Date of Birth – current date is a default.  Also, pick the correct region – currently picking up a default value.  There is a map to the left to assist you.

  • For each person registering, there MUST be a unique email address provided. We can’t have multiple people using the same email address.  As a note, for those in school, you would be assigned a school email address – use this if you don’t have your own personal email address.

  • Once you are registered, you will be prompted to pay your registration – Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) is preferred to the email address(s) provided. This will make the process much easier and quicker for you.  If this is an issue, we ask that you reach out to us directly.

Registration rates are:

Level 1 and 2 - $70.00

Level 3 - $100

Level 4 and 5 - $140*

  • Once registered online and registration is paid, the online learning modules will be assigned to your user profile based on your level registration – the earliest start date will be Friday April 2nd. Currently, the plan is for the below modules to be completed by level.   And yes, Intro to Umpiring and Code of Conduct are required for all umpires as we have learned that many of our members don’t know much about BNSUD and we will be requiring our Code of Conduct acknowledged by all umpires.

  • All umpires are expected to complete all the modules assigned. You won’t be added to our actual registration list until the registered, payment is received, and modules are completed.

  • For Level 1 and Level 2 umpires, your online learning will be done on the new website. We will be utilizing the website for communication as well.  Most of the modules are approximately 10 to 20 minutes in length.

  • For Level 3, 4, 5 – there is a National Virtual Super Clinic that is required in place of our normal BNSUD Super Clinic– information has already been sent out. There is no additional cost to take the National Virtual Super Clinic.  BNSUD has covered the cost of this.  There are limited sessions remaining – see dates and times below.  Go to superclinic.ca to register.

  • PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU COMPLETE YOUR MODULES. After each module is completed on the BNSUD website, you will have to complete a short 5 question quiz/ module at the end to ensure that you completed and comprehend the module.  The quizzes must be completed to complete the module.

  • Once the online modules for your level are complete there will be the normal exam – done through the website for Level 1 and 2 – true or false answers. For Level 3, 4 and 5 the exams will be completed at umpire.baseball.ca.

  • With completion of your exam, with the caveat that we are still allowed by Public Health, we will be holding in person positioning/ practical umpiring clinics. These in person sessions are being limited in time to 3 hours and also limited due to gathering limits and they will be held indoors; those locations have their own capacity limits and requirements.

  • On the website, once your modules are complete you will be able to register for you in person session. We will be working to compile the requirements by location prior to the start of the clinics.  Based on our current information, please be prepared to wear a mask, sanitize your hands and social distance in the clinics.

  • Where there are limits to the size at each clinic, we will require everyone to register for their own clinic. There will be more information available in the next week or so in regard to the in person sessions. They will not start before May 1st.

The expectation is that ALL BNSUD members will get to an in person session.

I know there will likely be lots of questions.  If you have any, please reach out via email me at president@bnsud.ca.

Thanks

Joel Rodgers
