Respect the Game, Respect the Official - Green Arm Band Initiative

May. 30, 2024

Amateur sports are facing a troubling decline in the number of officials, referees, and umpires. One of the main reasons for this is the abuse directed at them by athletes, coaches, and spectators. To tackle this issue, eight Provincial Sport Organizations in Nova Scotia have united to combat referee, umpire, and official abuse in sport by introducing the 'Green Armband Initiative'.

This initiative serves as a reminder to respect and protect these young officials who wear green armbands. Just like the players and coaches, they are LEARNING the GAME.

Together, we are nurturing a culture of respect and support for those who make the games possible, aiming to establish a positive environment for everyone in sport.
